The Role

Perform manual inspections of manufactured, purchased and processed products in accordance with industry standards, internal quality systems and customers specifications. Uses various inspections technologies for further inspection of products. prepares documentation on inspection results and activities, upholding Umbra Cuscinetti's Quality Policy. Specific Responsibilities May Include

  • Collects and synthesizes information related to inspection activities, preparing reports for Quality organization. 
  • Perform receiving, in-process, final dimensional, First Article (FAI) and finishing inspections to customer drawings and industry specs.
  • Use standard inspection measuring equipment and make proper inspection set-ups from drawings, specs and inspection instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Examines articles for defects and sorts articles according to extent of defect. 
  • Participates in 5s’, lean manufacturing and cost reduction activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred: Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school) and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience: writing/editing/running Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM), precision measurement tools (dial indicators, height gauges), Zeiss Calypso software, First Article Inspection, and Blueprint and Drawing reading.


Certificates and Licenses:

ASQ Certification: Certified Quality Technician (CQT) and/or Certified Mechanical Inspector(CMI), preferred. 


Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. 


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use data-collection hardware and software and translate collected data into meaningful results. Proficient level knowledge and ability to operate Windows, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Proficient level knowledge and ability to display experience with D365 and the ability to interpret CAD based coordinate measurements


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent. Ability to draw, analyze and interpret data into graphical representations, such as a bar graph or pie chart.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.The job duties that are affected by the environmental conditions are of a typical factory and product manufacturing environment and its equipment including occasionally working near fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required when on the shop floor.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (approximately 50% or more) required to see, sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee will regularly (approximately 26%-49%) stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; The employee must occasionally (approximately 10-25%) lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Inspection personnel shall be vision tested by a licensed qualified medical technician and shall have, as a minimum, the capability of reading Jaeger J-2 or Ortho-Rater 8 letters or better at 12 inches in at least one eye, either natural or corrected


Inspector I pay range: $22.00-$25.30/hr

Inspector II pay range: $23.80-$28.00/hr
