Description

Company Overview:

Ambiq's mission is to develop the lowest-power semiconductor solutions to enable intelligent devices everywhere by developing the lowest-power semiconductor solutions to drive a more energy-efficient, sustainable, and data-driven world. Ambiq has helped leading manufacturers worldwide develop products that last weeks on a single charge (rather than days) while delivering a maximum feature set in compact industrial designs. Ambiq's goal is to take Artificial Intelligence (AI) where it has never gone before in mobile and portable devices, using Ambiq's advanced ultra-low power system on chip (SoC) solutions. Ambiq has shipped more than 200 million units as of March 2023. For more information, visit www.ambiq.com.

Our innovative and fast-moving teams of research, development, production, marketing, sales, and operations are spread across several continents, including the US (Austin and San Jose), Taiwan (Hsinchu), China (Shenzhen and Shanghai), Japan (Tokyo), and Singapore. We value continued technology innovation, fanatical attention to customer needs, collaborative decision-making, and enthusiasm for energy efficiency. We embrace candidates who also share these same values. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, creative, and comfortable learning and driving exciting new technologies. We encourage and nurture an environment for growth and opportunities to work on complex, interesting, and challenging projects that will create a lasting impact. Come join us on our quest for 100 billion devices. The endpoint intelligence revolution starts here.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the marketing, design, and verification teams to develop characterization plans for block-level and system-level MCU electrical characteristics and power consumption
  • FPGA board-level hardware design and Verilog software development
  • Develop custom embedded software and FPGA functions to assist with automated testing and debugging of MCU hardware
  • Define algorithms and implementation details for characterizing MCU analog and digital electrical characteristics, performance, and power consumption
  • Develop and implement MCU silicon validation algorithms and functional tests in Tcl, Python, and embedded C/C++
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to other engineering team members
  • Define and develop tools for mixed-signal validation and characterization test data logging, analysis, and presentation
  • Design board hardware and specify test equipment required for analog and digital characterization of Ambiq MCU products
  • Develop custom automated software functions and/or applications to assist the design, test, and applications teams with debugging MCU hardware issues.
Requirements
  • Your BS/MS in EE and your extensive 7+ years of experience in software development for MCU silicon validation and/or related systems will be crucial for this role.
  • Your proficiency in FPGA design and Verilog software development, particularly with Xilinx and/or Altera FPGAs, is a key requirement for this position.
  • Experience developing software algorithms and writing Tcl, Perl, and/or Python test scripts and embedded MCU code in C/C++
  • Experience working with common embedded software IDEs (Keil, IAR, Eclipse, OpenOCD) to assist with C/C++ and Tcl software development and debug
  • Experience with timing characterization of high-speed digital serial communication interfaces (multi-bit SPI, eMMC, MIPI, SDIO, etc.).
  • Experience measuring analog audio, amplifier, PMIC, and ADC performance metrics
  • Your hands-on experience in the lab, particularly with digital and analog electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and current measurement equipment, is highly valued for this role.
  • Experience configuring mixed signal SOC power states and developing power management firmware
  • Experience developing and using data logging, analysis, and report-generation tools
  • Experience working with ARM-based microcontrollers that integrate analog and digital signals well. This includes power management, high-resolution ADCs, I2C, SPI, I2S, PDM, and UART serial interfaces.

The expectation is that the candidate will be required to maintain a regular in-office presence five days per week.
