What You’ll Do:

The Accounting Manager will help lead the accounting and finance functions for Whisker and work closely with the Controller and our cross-functional leadership team to provide timely and accurate financial reporting and profitability management. As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for all things accounting and financial reporting. 


 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the monthly financial close process to ensure a complete, accurate and timely month-end close
  • Supervises and manages the Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Reviews and reconciles account discrepancies. 
  • Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company’s financial status.
  • Assists with the management of accounting, budgeting and variance analysis within the organization.
  • Prepares and reviews account reconciliations to ensure a clean balance sheet with no surprises.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries for completeness and accuracy.
  • Provides support for financial audits and other related audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Ensures compliance with and prepares reports according to applicable government regulations.
  • Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Delegates accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.
  • Coordinates with and prepares reports for the CFO, Corporate Controller and executive leadership.
  • Assists with all internal and external corporate financial reporting and liaises with other senior leaders on a variety of reporting and financial matters.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for improvements to the ERP systems and tools in order to meet financial reporting requirements as well as improve information and controls and support the Company's strategic needs.
  • Will perform additional responsibilities when required. 

Leadership Responsibilities: 
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Whisker policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training and hiring teams, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing team issues, and upholding safety and quality guidelines. 

Requirements


What You'll Bring

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting 
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting with demonstrated increased responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting 
  • Knowledge of balance sheets and income statements
  • Experience working with accounting software and ERP systems to optimize processes
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented and ability to multitask
  • Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
  • Comfortable with office pets (cats, dogs) 

Not Required but Nice to Have!

  • Masters Degree
  • Tenure in public accounting 
  • CPA designation
  • Experience with SAP Business One 
  • Manufacturing Experience
