Assistant Director of Veterans Services, Region East/West  

Veteran Services 

Full-Time 

Schedule:    Determined on a case-by-case basis 

  

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Program Director, oversees a regional portion of Veteran programming for the agency.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures the quality of service delivery to the community through monitoring and supervision of a regionally segmented portion of the agency's veteran services programs.

2. community rapport with funders and donors to increase the financial security of programming. 

3. Ensure data entry is completed and compiles program reports, as required by funders.

4. Provides oversight for daily operations of 24/7 shelter(s).

5. Provides direct supervision, performance evaluation, and support of program management staff.

6. Builds and maintains professional working relationships with VA Medical Center staff, and homeless/housing Continuum of Care networking agencies.

7. Models awareness and behaviors needed for growth and development.

8. Actively participates in regular team meetings for the purpose of program consistency, monitoring, and effectiveness.

9. Ensures training for staff on best practice models in the service delivery approach

10. Participates in local community meetings about housing issues, and delegates staff to participate in meetings.

11. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff. 

12. Oversees staff development and training.

13. Attends agency staff meetings and staff development activities.

14. Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.

15. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Knowledge of client centered model of crisis intervention skills, and ability to teach crisis intervention.

2. Ability to model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, management of conflicts and work in team structure.

3. Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.

4. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation). 


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field. College coursework with four years of non-profit social service management experience may count towards education requirement. 


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with veterans, victims or perpetrators of domestic violence and/or homeless populations in a shelter setting preferred.
