CNA II
Description

I. Minimum Education/Experience

High School Graduate or GED Certificate required. Completion of state-approved CNA II certification train-ing course and current certification required. Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


II. Essential Job Functions

  1. Assist with personal care needs of each person served, including skin care, bathing, feeding, toileting needs, personal grooming, etc.
  2. Provide quality supervision and interaction with the person served.
  3. Provide CNA duties to person served, such as taking vital signs, medication administration, proper position-ing, repositioning, treatments etc. as assigned by DON.
  4. Complete medication administration training.
  5. Report immediately all concerns to DON/ CNS 
  6. Follows policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.  
  7. Maintain CNA certification by demonstrating skills as required and supervised by RN/ DON. 
  8. Strives to incorporate the philosophy and mission of the center and to incorporate the Center’s goal of quality care with total regard for individual human dignity.
  9. Provide in-service training to all staff as needed and ongoing monitoring of consumer medical care and needs. 
  10. Provide and participate in routine and assigned housekeeping duties when needed to ensure a safe and clean home is maintained for person served.
  11. Participate, provide, and assist with any nursing, programmatic and habilitative services and instructional programs as designated. 
  12. Flex time and comply with mandate policy when necessary to ensure adequate staff coverage and support of person served.  
  13. Attend staff meetings and remain in full compliance with all required training. 
  14. Keeping abreast of all necessary safety and precautionary measures to ensure the well-being and safety of the person served. 
  15. Complete all required documentation, to include incident/accident reporting, Innovations documentation ac-cording to expectations and in a timely manner. 
  16. Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team as required.
  17. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 with additional staff assis-tance. 
  18. Maintain at all times a valid NC driver’s license and an “acceptable” driving record and be responsible for driv-ing Center vans or other vehicles. 
  19. Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  1. Ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively.
  2. Establish and maintain a professional and effective working relationship with families and staff at the residential program and the Center.
  3. Excellent communication skills 
  4. Must have valid North Carolina driver's license and be insurable by the Center's liability insurance carrier.

Hours/Days of Work: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift. Hours may vary to meet the needs of the person served and the agency.
