Job Summary


Performs selected physical therapy procedures and related tasks under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. Other duties may include documentation of treatment progress, modification of specific treatment in accordance with patient status within the plan of care, and supervision of Physical Therapy Technicians.

Requirements
  • Associate Degree with satisfactory completion of an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
  • Current South Dakota licensure as a physical therapist assistant.
  • Physical stamina requisite to lift, carry and/or otherwise move and manipulate the equipment used in evaluation and treatment.
  • Physical stamina requisite to standing, walking, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting while transporting or transferring patients and performing treatments.
  • Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and other persons involved with the patient's care.

Working Conditions

  • Work involves almost constant one to one contact with patients.
  • Work is intermittently light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly) or heavy (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly) and is usually performed inside in a well lit, heated air conditioned space.
  • Work requires travel to outreach locations.
