Position Summary:

FirstLine Schools is seeking dynamic and experienced individuals to join our team as a Transportation Manager. FirstLine Schools will be directly operating school buses for the first time in the 2024-25 school year.  As part of this project, we are seeking someone with experience in school transportation that is a problem solver comfortable with an evolving work environment.  

Reporting directly to the Director of Transportation, FirstLine’s Transportation Manager is responsible for daily activities associated with the safe transportation of Firstline’s students. Duties and responsibilities must be performed to maintain compliance with federal, state, local and district standards.  


Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, monitoring and maintenance of routes and transportation requests assigned to drivers. 
  • Track all students assigned to bus routes. 
  • Responsible for tracking all pre-service in-service  training  for drivers to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with notification, updates and other communications regarding road conditions, inclement weather, etc. 
  • Provide customer service for internal and external inquiries, complaints, etc. 
  • Coordinate and report information necessary to update and maintain student data and routing.
  • Compile and complete reporting as directed and according to deadlines, procedures, policies, etc. 
  • Document service issues, problems, etc. as needed. 
  • Assist/lead professional development classes.
  • Assist with supervision and performance evaluation of drivers assigned to the Transportation Department. 
  • Must be able to maintain, create and issue monthly billing reports.
  • Provide coverage for the Director of Transportation when he/she is unavailable, as directed. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements

 

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Must have a valid CDL with P & S Endorsements.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the field of pupil or passenger transportation is required. 
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Strong organizational skills required. 
  • Must be able to read, interpret and follow maps. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in transportation services for a school district preferred. 
  • Prior fleet management experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of bus or vehicle routing software preferred.
  • Ability to lead training classes related to school bus transportation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, conduct vehicle inspections, and assist students as needed.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. FirstLine Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package with a generous 403b plan.

Starting base salary: 45K - 55K
