About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading engineering, planning, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender. Our design projects are at all different scales, from street reconstruction projects to concept development and design for high-comfort bikeways for states, cities, and counties. Our engineers, planners, and landscape architects work on multimodal corridor studies, Vision Zero projects, transit plans and studies, Safe Routes to School plans and designs, active transportation plans, new mobility and curbside management, trails and greenways, Complete Streets, design guidelines, and more. We remind ourselves and our clients to proactively think about equity every step of the way.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Transportation Engineer

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You lead, support, and mentor interdisciplinary project teams to help deliver multimodal transportation projects in a wide range of contexts. You help lead the creation of signing and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, and traffic signal plans for roadway projects and streetscapes. You use programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, and Highway Capacity Software to oversee and contribute to production work on your projects, and state-of-the-art approaches to create sustainable multimodal transportation networks.

You work on a wide spectrum of projects that inform your design work, including road diet feasibility analyses, multimodal corridor studies and designs, trail/roadway intersection studies and designs, parking studies, and design guidance and standards. You share your knowledge with staff and clients to develop feasibility studies, concept plans, and construction documents, and mentor your colleagues to ensure that our projects are consistently of the highest quality.

As an experienced project manager, you lead many of the Denver office’s design projects with careful attention to scope, schedule, budget, client satisfaction, and team happiness. You help lead business development efforts and pursuits for the Denver office and sometimes across the Western region. You get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about the work and the communities that you serve.

We are targeting a salary range of $114,000 to $135,000 for this position. Candidates with more years of experience or exceptional qualifications may fall into a different pay range.
