The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance department. An experienced maintenance expert who can create a highly functioning department with a well-organized parts department, a well-organized and documented PM System, a thorough analysis of our equipment and its capabilities and how to optimize throughput/output as well as capture the highest ROI with additional investment in equipment. The position calls for the individual to be capable and confident in communicating at all levels of the organization from the executive team to the shop floor team members.
Organizational Relationships
Direct reporting to the Facilities & Maintenance Director. Indirect relationships with all Plant, Warehouse, and Corporate Management.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain the highest levels of workplace safety and food safety at all times.
- Ensure all equipment is running safely and properly, that downtime is minimized
- Understand all equipment needs for the plants and provide the necessary maintenance support for the plant to achieve its goals.
- Control all department costs including labor and inventory/parts.
- Develop and manage a robust inventory/parts system/program.
- Develops a high performing Team and actively promotes the company Values.
- Develops and maintains KPIs that effectively monitor progress around all key. deliverables within the department.
Primary Job Duties
- Supervise the maintenance of plant equipment and manage preventative maintenance on production equipment and document as required.
- Plan, layout and schedule work for functional areas of responsibility and delegate work on a project or individual basis to maintenance technicians.
- Hire, train, monitor, discipline, evaluate and develop employees. Assist subordinates with diagnosing and remedying difficult problems. Enforcing organizational policies and employee rules of conduct.
- Monitor and regulate the operation of departmental areas and investigate solutions to complex problems affecting functional areas of responsibility.
- As needed, source outside vendors; establish project scope.
- Develop and monitor formal control programs to track and regulate repair costs and spare parts inventories.
- Work with corporate and project management personnel to design, plan, schedule and complete capital improvement projects.
- Prepare and maintain department reporting and record-keeping systems.
- Maintain good housekeeping conditions and ensure employee conformance to safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
- Develop, implement and ensure adherence to SOP’s.
- Develop and maintain qualifications and training standards for all maintenance personnel.
- Interface with regulatory and third-party agencies including USDA, OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and Fire Department, etc.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Serves as backup to maintenance technicians as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Pre-Requisites
- 3 – 5 years of related management experience (within a food processing environment is preferred).
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent is preferred
- Strong mechanical ability and a working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and PLC systems are required. Demonstrated ability to apply and conduct good root cause analysis techniques and resolve problems is essential.
Skill Requirements
- Computer proficiency in Work, Excel, Internet, e-mail, and database systems is required.
- Working knowledge of maintenance tracking software programs is desired.
- Must have a strong floor presence and be able to interact effectively with people at all levels. Be capable and confident in communicating at all levels of the organization from the executive team to the shop floor team members.
