We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Application Specialist to join our team, supporting our downstream business with a focus on utilizing chemistry to prevent and mitigate challenges throughout the refinery. Areas of focus will include boilers, cooling towers, and wastewater plants. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the onsite application and optimization of water treatment programs throughout the entire plant. This role involves starting up new chemical programs, solving complex technical challenges, troubleshooting upsets and collaborating with various departments to ensure the integrity and optimization of our customers’ assets and their performance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise and Support
- Provide expert technical support for water treatment applications within the refinery.
- Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of water treatment related issues in the refinery.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of water treatment programs to ensure optimal performance.
Program Optimization
- Work with operations and engineering teams to optimize water treatment programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor and analyze operations data to identify opportunities for optimization.
Project Management
- Lead and manage process chemistry related projects, from concept through implementation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Training and Development
- Provide training and guidance to refinery staff on monitoring, troubleshooting and handling all process chemistry programs.
- Develop and deliver training programs to improve staff competency in chemical applications.
- Stay current with industry best practices and advancements in chemistry applications and monitoring.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years in hands on water treatment application within a refinery or industrial setting.
- Proven track record of successfully managing process water treatment programs.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of refinery chemical processes and applications.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques and process monitoring tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Work will typically be performed in an office environment using routine office equipment.
Travel Requirements
Less than 40% - only as needed for training, off-site meetings, etc.
