Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for day-to-day management and maintenance of our organization’s IT infrastructure, including create and document tickets, troubleshooting, and escalation. 

This position will be Hybrid in our Roanoke, VA location. 



Duties and Responsibilities:

Systems Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance on servers, workstations, and network devices.
  • Apply updates, patches, and security configurations as needed.

User Support:

  • Provide timely technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and service issues.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts per company policies.
  • Manage access controls and permissions.

Network & System Management:

  • Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and workstations.
  • Manage Windows or Linux servers, including services like Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Assist in designing hardened core desktop OS image.
  • Assist in hardware and software selection for procurement & maintain IT asset inventory.
  • Monitor and address network performance and connectivity & respond to system alerts and notifications.

Backup and Security:

  • Ensure data integrity through regular backups, testing, and validation.
  • Monitor and enforce security policies and respond to incidents.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate system documentation, including configurations and troubleshooting guides.
  • Organize and update technical documentation.
  • Ensure systems align with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Support audits and compliance assessments.

Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5 years’ experience in a related IT role required
