Summary

The HVAC Estimator is responsible for coordinating estimating and bidding processes within the operation, analyzing documentation, and preparing estimates. The HVAC Estimator collaborates with various departments to achieve organizational goals and implements strategies to optimize project costs and efficiency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Review data to determine material and labor requirements, assisting in cost reduction efforts.
  • Delegate, monitor, and audit work for timely and quality completion.
  • Prepare estimate reports, labor and material estimates, and cost analyses for management purposes.
  • Communicate with other departments to resolve issues and achieve project goals.
  • Prepare labor and material estimates, project bid wraps, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Establish vendor responsibilities and ensure bid compliance.
  • Train team members in estimation procedures and department operations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management. 
Requirements

Experience and Skills:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent, and 5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications and construction plans.
  • Broad understanding of construction, piping, and sheet metal systems
  • Familiarity with the submittal process and project closeout requirements
  • Strong mathematical and reasoning skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and interpretation of various instructions.
  • Knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, type, and operate office technology such as computers, printers, copy machines, and calculators.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and engage in repetitive fine manipulation frequently.
  • Capable of navigating uneven surfaces and climbing ladders.
  • May be exposed to temperature changes and confined spaces.

Other requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
