Inspect fruit and divert fruit which does not meet quality specifications.
Obtain boxes from stacked pallet or conveyor
Manually pack fruit into Number One (#1) bushel boxes
Apply cover lid and push downline to the taper/labeler
· Visually inspect fruit which is destined for the bin filler
· Remove fruit which does not meet specifications and divert it according to quality level and according to supervisor direction
· Periodically check fruit in the bin to ensure that the fruit has not been damaged by the equipment/process. Notify the supervisor of any issues observed.
Repair bins as needed using materials and tools provided
· Ensure that only acceptable condition bins are delivered for filling. Notify a supervisor or forklift operator to remove any dirty or unacceptable bins.
· Ensure the bin filler maintains a consistent flow and finished bins are promptly rotated out as completed.
Prepare cardboard boxes using materials and tools provided according to established procedures.
· Prepare the machine and glue at least 30 minutes before start of production
· Gather cardboard and place into the magazine of the box machine.
· Run machine to form boxes.
· Remove formed boxes from output conveyor and either stack on pallet(s) or hang on overhead hook conveyor
· Ensure machine is filled with glue, monitor machine to detect and prevent jams
Prepare RPC’s (Returnable Plastic Containers) by manually erecting / locking them into fixed, box position
· Remove outer shrink wrap from the pallet of RPC’s using a company provided knife/sharp implement.
· Visually inspect pallets of RPC’s and remove or do not use any which are broken or appear dirty
Manually erect the RPC, and place it on a stand, pallet, or rollers in preparation for fruit packing
Ability to read, write, and speak English is preferred
Spanish-speaking only staff may qualify, with bi-lingual supervisors in place
