Enlightened Rebel Rising Intern I/II
WFH Flexible Culver City, CA
Job Type
Temporary
Description

Walton Isaacson’s Rebel Rising: The Intern Collective is bringing rising talent together with seasoned advertising and marketing professionals. As a Rebel Rising Intern, your personalized program is designed to provide a fulfilling work environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and inclusiveness. You will work with professionals at every level and gain real-world experience that will give you an edge wherever your career takes you. You will have the opportunity to work alongside teams in different departments of the agency: Account Management, Creative (Art Direction or Copywriting), Media, Music and Culture + Communications, and Strategic Planning.

The Intern Collective gathers virtually for ten (10) weeks in the summer with programming aimed to introduce you to the advertising industry, agency roles, and be immersed in professional development. You will also have the opportunity to work with fellow interns on a summer-long project. Rebel Rising Interns get to work in their agency placement, training in their job roles, participating in meetings, listening in on client calls, and helping with pitches to gain exposure and hands-on experience. There will be opportunities for the Intern Collective to gather in-person throughout the program.

Below are descriptions to determine the departments and positions that are of greatest interest to you. You will be asked to indicate your top choices on the Internship application.

  1. Account Management: The official quarterback of the advertising industry— the person at the center of it all! The account manager determines the client’s needs and/or opportunities, creates a business plan, and serves as an advocate for both the agency’s creative output and the client’s needs. They keep the communication rolling and the money flowing!
  2. Art Direction: The creative department’s stunningly keen eyes. Art directors grasp the big message of the ad and communicate it visually. These artists understand the core of design and photography and work in tandem with a copywriter to produce beautiful and powerful messages. (Candidates will need to provide a digital portfolio with design and brand samples.)
  3. Copywriting: The wordsmith. The hashtag creator. They’re the artful linguists who write what you read, hear, and see. Also, the art director’s partner in crime—professionally speaking. (Candidates will need to provide a digital portfolio with writing samples.)
  4. Media: Media Buyers kick-start the whole process by purchasing a slot for ads to be placed into. Without this position, agencies would have nothing to do all day but wistfully blog about their burning desire to advertise. What a sad thought. If you start seeing adult diaper commercials on Disney, you know that the Media Planner has been fired. This person figures out the who/what/when/where/why of ad placement and makes sure that the commercial reaches the right people at the right time.
  5. Music Supervision/Agency Culture: Working in music supervision and agency culture is a dual role. If you’ve ever wondered whose job it is to pick and coordinate the songs for film, TV, or advertising, it’s the job of a Music Supervisor. Anyone working in media might have to be a music supervisor at any point. They’re the ultimate playlist curators in the marketing world. Agency culture is about creating opportunities to improve the employee experience. Whether it be through relationship-building, communications, or social media initiatives, this role creates the fairy dust that fuels social good.
  6. Strategic/Account Planning: Strategic/account planners solve the mystery of the who/what/how of advertising. By looking at market trends, they’re able to come up with the client and agency’s game plan for communicating effective advertising to the masses.
