Description

The Marriott University Park is looking for a Catering Sales and Service manager. This is an entry level sales position with a focus on detailing out previously contracted multi day conference and single day meeting sales. The ideal candidate has a background in food and beverage, has exceptional customer service skills, is detail orientated and comfortable working on a computer skill.

Requirements

1. Administration 50%

  • Work closely with client after booking to develop good working relationship, including letter of introduction, meeting planner materials, prompt response to calls and requests.
  • Maintain professionalism in problem situations.
  • Maintain detailed records of discussions with guest, including room accommodations, all meeting setups, food and beverage, transportation, etc.
  • Upsell to improve revenue generation on property.
  • Be readily available during functions for consultation with client.
  • Flexible schedule required to accommodate client needs.
  • Preside at conference planning meetings where details related to group coordination will be discussed and reviewed by management.
  • Participate in site reviews.
  • Conduct exit interviews with clients to solidify repeat business and distribute results.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual hotel budget.
  • Respond and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Ability to accurately use various office and accounting software.

2. Sales 30%

  • Book all social catering functions in accordance with established goals set by hotel to reach expected revenues via the annual budget.
  • Develop a target sales and marketing plan with focus on social and meeting catering functions which will include a combination of sales calls, site visits and prospecting for future relationships.
  • Assist with the development of banquet menus.
  • Participate in 30-60-90 day banquet forecasting.
  • Coordinate in-house sales promotions and associate functions.
  • Greet client upon arrival.
  • Facilitate and communicate details related to catering functions to management.
  • Maintain professionalism in problem situations.

3. Support 10%.

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Ability to accurately report information.
  • Ability to assist with various office tasks as needed.
  • Ability to scrupulously follow all StepStone and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Attend required meetings. 10%

5. Physical Requirements


These are required of every associate.

  • Minimum lifting of 20 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing, typing.
  • Minimum pulling of 20 pounds.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Additional responsibilities specific to you are:

· Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions.

· Must have a comprehensive knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.

· Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills.

· High school education and relevant training and experience required. Additional education preferred.

· Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates.

· CPR training required; first aid training preferred.

· Additional language ability preferred.

· Occasional travel required.
