Litigation Paralegal

Job Description:

This position is responsible for a wide variety of duties and projects related to litigation case load. This position is expected to participate in all aspects of case management, including assisting attorneys in the management of case files and support to client, tracking court dates and deadlines, client reporting, and maintaining of electronic databases. 


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive administrative support to multiple attorneys and partners

2. Assist with preparation of discovery, pleadings, and motions

3. Draft and update client reports

4. Organize, review, summarize, and draft documents

5. Perform basic research of court rules and litigation trends

6. Oversee requests for medical records, contact physicians and other facilities

7. Analyze medical records and prepare summaries

8. Electronic filing in federal and state courts

9. Correspond with clients, opposing counsel, and court clerks

10. Assist with all aspects of trial preparation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or agreed upon schedule. Overtime work may occasionally be required. The monthly billing requirement for this position is 120 hours per month. 


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Paralegal Certificate (ABA accredited) preferred
  • 5+ years of litigation experience, previous experience in asbestos litigation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience using court docket search databases (PACER, LexisNexis, Pohlman, Westlaw, etc.)
  • Experience using e-discovery/trial software (NextPoint, Relativity, etc.)
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and to manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete all tasks on time
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and quickly acquire new skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in civil litigation
