Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Machinist III to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to set up and operate multi-axis horizontal and vertical CNC milling machines to produce precision parts for the aerospace/defense industry.  Your responsibilities will include providing training to other machinists.  If you have at least five years of experience and a passion for precision machining, we encourage you to apply.

Full-time:        Monday - Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm 

Pay Range:     $34.00-$54.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, set up and operate production machinery, including 4 and 5-Axis horizontal mills (writing, editing, and troubleshooting).
  • Perform simultaneous and indexed 5-Axis machining.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blue prints, and job instructions.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Select, align, and attach fixtures, cutting tools, accessories, and other materials.
  • Perform operations such as drilling, facing, boring, slotting, and tapping.
  • Execute tool paths using CNC controls and alter cutting tool feed & speed as needed.
  • Perform in process inspection on finished products to ensure they conform to internal quality control and customer specifications.
  • Identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine settings, tooling, and programs to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machine and tooling problems, making necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Rework and repair parts as necessary.
  • Provide technical assistance or training to operators and other machinists as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience as a fully qualified horizontal and vertical mill setup machinist.
  • Ability to setup and operate multi-axis machines, such as Matsuura, Makino, and Okuma machining centers as well as multiple linear palletized horizontal machining centers. 
  • Proficiency in writing, editing, and troubleshooting programs for 4 and 5-Axis CNC machines. 
  • An understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and use CNC controls to execute tool paths and requirements.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, scales, and vision machines.
  • Ability to alter cutting tool feed and speed, run first articles, and understand G&M codes for 5-Axis and work to 0.001” tolerance.
  • Working knowledge of tool selection, use, setup, and maintenance, including workholding tools such as vises, clamps, chucks, and fixtures.
  • Ability to load, unload, and position workpieces on multiple planes.
  • Strong working knowledge of machining operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills and mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use multiple rotary axes for complex geometry.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good eyesight, hand-eye coordination, dexterity, endurance, strength, hearing, and color vision to perform the job effectively and safely.
  • Strong attention to detail, good attendance, and the ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

Physical Demands: Job duties are performed in an open warehouse environment with a wider range of temperature variation than would be expected in an office environment with exposure to noise, vibrations, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Frequent repetitive motion of wrists, hands, fingers, and feet.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking and reaching outward. 
  • Occasional periods of bending, climbing, reaching over head or shoulder, and sitting.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 20 pounds (Occasionally 21-50 pounds).
  • Rarely kneeling, squatting, twisting/turning, and lifting over 50 pounds.
