Schedule: Thursday - Monday 9:30AM - 6:00PM

Status: Non-Exempt

Rate of Pay: $18.00Entry - $25.20/per hour (depending on experience)

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Facilities Manager / CEO, the primary function of this position is to assist with maintenance and custodial duties of MMC facilities, vehicles, and equipment. The incumbent will work independently and in coordination with agency site managers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspects facilities and equipment to determine needs and extent of service, equipment required, and maintenance or repair needed;
  • Performs all project maintenance at all of MMC’s facilities;
  • Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance;
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules; reviews work orders to determine work priorities; assists with repairs and maintenance;
  • Monitors safety and security of buildings;
  • Operates within department budget;
  • Works as a team member and support the mission and goals of the agency and programs;
  • Safeguards assets of the MMC, including merchandise, and other assets;
  • Safeguards clients’ security and confidentiality;
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, stairways, and other work areas;
  • Vacuums rugs and carpets;
  • Dusts furniture and equipment;
  • Regular attendance and promptness;
  • Assists maintenance technician and custodian as needed to complete daily tasks and work orders;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience performing routine building maintenance and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Experience with operation of small tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment and effective safety practices and procedures for the protection of clients, employees, and agency property.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to contractors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • General understanding of basic electrical, plumbing, maintenance, and repair.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto. Must be insurable at all times at standard rate set by MMC insurance carrier.
  • Must pass tuberculosis test, drug test, and fingerprinting test.
