OVERVIEW

  

The High School Site Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and programming of the Venice High School. This role aims to enhance program participation, ensure the delivery of high-quality activities, maintain a safe and supportive environment, and foster positive relationships with the community, school personnel, and families. The coordinator will also supervise staff and volunteers, manage administrative tasks, and promote the personal growth and development of members.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Increase Program Participation

  • Achieve an Average Daily Attendance (ADA) of 140 teens by initiating, promoting, and stimulating current BGCMLA programs and new programs.
  • Develop and implement a recruitment strategy within 60 days of start to increase program visibility and participation.
  • Recruit members for the VHS and Clubhouse, working with the Area Director to formulate strategy and implement.

Deliver High Quality Program & Activities Across Core Areas 

  • Effectively plan, organize, and implement a range of program services and activities for teen members in the five core areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
  • Develop and implement an annual action plan, including end-of-year objectives, main activities, and assessment measures.
  • Provide program reports to the supervisor and keep attendance records up to date utilizing myclubhub and BTB Attendance App.
  • Ensure program outcomes are tracked and reported on a quarterly basis.
  • Create and manage internal processes to improve the quality of program delivery on a quarterly basis (e.g., parent surveys, NYOI, site observation tools).

Ensure Safety and Quality in Programs

  • Promote the safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the site at all times.
  • Ensure that services offered are in accordance with BGCMLA and LAUSD BTB safety policies and procedures and that facilities are safe, clean, and sanitary for youth and visitors.
  • Increase NYOI Overall Safety Score from 90% to 92%.
  • Conduct quarterly safety and building inspections to meet compliance and safety standards. Eliminate safety hazards within 24 hours.

Supervise and Develop Staff & Volunteers

  • Recruit, train, support, and evaluate staff and volunteers, ensuring productive and effective performance.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and annual evaluations, effectively delegating responsibilities to team members.
  • Ensure 90% of open positions are filled at the beginning of each school year and summer programs.
  • Ensure that new hires receive proper orientation and appropriate training in the first 30 days.
  • Implement ongoing retention strategies (e.g., staff monthly incentives, staff feedback, performance reviews) to decrease employee turnover.
  • Develop and facilitate three program trainings for staff annually.

Maintain Administrative Efficiency

  • Create, maintain, and submit accurate attendance, financial, and program reports to the Club and LAUSD BTB.
  • Work with the Area Director to develop and monitor a budget that supports Club programmatic needs, ensuring expenditures are controlled and approved.

Strengthen Community and School Relationships

  • Participate in school staff meetings and encourage a positive relationship with school personnel.
  • Maintain monthly contact with school principals and partners to provide program information via one e-newsletter a month, one phone call a month, and a bi-monthly flyer campaign to school staff and students.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance and expand teen programs and develop systems for family involvement/engagement.

Promote Member Growth and Development

  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members, promoting positive behavior and leadership skills.
  • Develop and implement strategies to correct unsafe behaviors, ensure emergency procedures are followed, and take actions to prevent incidents.

Evaluate and Improve Programs

  • Analyze and review average daily attendance and frequency of attendance, developing and implementing strategies to increase membership and attendance.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve Club programs and design and communicate strategies to implement improvements.
Requirements

  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization managing staff and youth programs. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends and /or holidays.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and must meet the insurance standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Pass a TB test with a negative results.
  • Experience with youth development pro
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.

  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, and programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs; principles and practices of supervision and management; principles and practices of project management; principles and practices of youth development and quality programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING

  • Hours are based on the school calendar and attendance patterns/trends – evening hours are required during the school year; hours will vary during summer and school breaks; occasional weekend hours are required.

Work environments may vary, encompassing both indoor and outdoor conditions based on activity locations. Additionally, interactions with youth and adults may involve moderate to high noise levels during activities. Physical exertion may be necessary to move and transport supplies and equipment.
