Description

Position Summary:

The Fast-Track Emergency Room Technician is a crucial member of our Fast-Track Emergency Department team, playing a pivotal role in providing swift and efficient support to licensed medical staff. In this position, you will perform clinical duties based on competencies and training, always under the supervision of a licensed nurse and/or provider who is concurrently on duty.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

Clinical and Non-Clinical Support:

· Assist licensed staff in performing clinical duties, demonstrating:

· Proficiency in venipuncture and knowledge of lab draw procedures, including point-of-care testing tailored to our Fast-Track setting.

· Ability to apply orthopedic support products, such as plaster splints, casts, and wraps.

· Basic wound care skills.

· Desirable knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia recognition.

· Competence in obtaining and accurately recording vital signs, including:

· Temperature measurement (oral, tympanic, and skin).

· Pulse assessment (radial, apical, and distal).

· Blood pressure measurement, including the correct application and selection of the appropriate cuff size.

· Pulse oxygenation monitoring.

· Maintain adequate stock levels and restock supplies as needed.

· Offer standby support as appropriate.

· Facilitate the rapid acquisition and delivery of supplies and lab samples upon request to enhance our Fast-Track process.

Requirements

Position Qualifications:

Required: High school diploma or GED.

Licenses/Certifications:

· Washington State CNA or Certified Medical Assistant or proof of completed EMT certification required.

· American Heart Association BLS required.

· MA (Medical Assistant – Phlebotomy) training within 6 months of hire

Physical Requirements:

· Flexibility to work any shift in emergencies.

· Flexibility to work any day of the week.

· Capable of lifting and moving objects, with the ability to:

· Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

· Exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently.

· Apply up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

· Ability to bend at the waist when stooping.

· Frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

· Frequent carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Working Conditions:

· Primarily works in a temperature-controlled office space, accounting for 95% of working time.

· Potential exposure to biohazardous agents, blood-borne pathogens, and other infectious agents.

· Requires regular contact with patients and staff in diverse situations.

· Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, frequent interruptions, long and irregular hours, and handling multiple calls and inquiries.

WAGE AND COMPENSATION

Wage range $20.55 hr. - $ 29.98 hr. - DOE
