Purpose: The Logistics department plays an important role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods through the supply chain, from receipt of raw materials or products to their delivery to customers or distribution centers.
Scope: The Logistics department focuses mainly on the movement of goods into and out of the organization working closely with the Warehouse department.
Our Logistics department is made up of the following roles: Logistics Manger, Shipping Leads, Receiving Lead, Logistics Associates, Building Maintenance Associate
Responsibilities:
Receiving Goods: Receives incoming shipments from suppliers and carriers, coordinating the unloading of goods from trucks or containers.
Inspection: Inspects received goods for accuracy, quantity, quality, and any damage. Records discrepancies and notifies appropriate departments (e.g., purchasing, quality control) as necessary.
Order Processing: Receives shipping orders or requests from internal departments or customers, verifies details, and prepares orders for shipment.
Shipping Documentation: Generates shipping labels, manifests, and other required documentation (e.g., customs forms for international shipments) to ensure compliance with regulations and carrier requirements.
Carrier Selection: Coordinates with carriers (e.g., freight companies, couriers) to schedule pickups and deliveries, negotiate rates, and track shipments in transit.
Routing and Shipping Optimization: Determines the most efficient shipping methods and routes to minimize costs and transit times while meeting customer delivery requirements.
Safety Protocols: Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures for handling and storing materials or fragile goods.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with packaging requirements, customs procedures, and documentation.
Tracking and Communication: Provides tracking information and updates to customers regarding the status of their shipments, resolving any shipping-related inquiries or issues promptly.
Returns Processing: Manages the processing and documentation of returned goods, coordinating with appropriate departments for inspection, restocking, or disposal.
