Stephens College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Volleyball Coach for our NAIA Women’s volleyball program. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, program development, and management to foster an environment of academic and athletic excellence. This is a full-time, 12-month position that requires a commitment to the student-athletes, the athletic department, and the overall mission of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coaching and Training:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions.
- Provide individual and group instruction to improve players' skills and performance.
- Analyze game footage to develop strategies and improve team performance.
- Support the Head Coach in game planning and execution.
2. Recruitment:
- Identify and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the institution’s academic standards and athletic program.
- Develop and maintain relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and other recruiting contacts.
- Assist in coordinating campus visits and evaluating prospective student-athletes.
3. Program Administration:
- Assist in scheduling practices, games, and travel arrangements.
- Coordinate and manage team-related logistics, including equipment and uniforms.
- Provide accounting support, including managing the volleyball program’s budget, tracking expenditures, and processing financial paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
- Assist with logistical support for events, including planning and organizing team functions, community outreach programs, and fundraising activities.
4. Student-Athlete Development:
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal growth.
- Promote a positive team culture and foster an environment of respect, integrity, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athletes in achieving their academic goals.
5. Community Engagement:
- Represent the volleyball program at various campus and community events.
- Participate in fundraising and promotional activities for the volleyball program and athletic department.
- Foster relationships with alumni, donors, and community supporters.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level, preferably within the NAIA, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and tactics.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Commitment to the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as needed.
