Summary:
Ability to troubleshoot various advanced ac/dc, single phase and three phase voltage systems to the component level. The Advanced Industrial Maintenance Technician function includes both mechanical and electrical support for troubleshooting, maintaining and repair of our highly automated production equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Demonstrates and applies knowledge of mechanical, advanced electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics and control systems.
· Minimizes machine downtime by troubleshooting and resolving mechanical to complex electrical, electronic, software and hardware issues using technical manuals, schematics, PLC ladder logic, vendor assistance and advanced training.
· Operate and use equipment such as, Multi-meter, Ammeter, Insulation tester (Megger), Dial indicators, Laptop computers and various Human machine interfaces.
· Carry out planned preventative maintenance on the full range of equipment within the site.
· Completes required training as needed and certification for the maintenance area in accordance with the maintenance progression process.
· Must be able to learn and work within the maintenance work order system (SAP), by generating work orders, viewing status of work orders and closing work orders upon completion.
· Understand and adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, confined space procedures and all other plant safety good manufacturing practices.
· Must be able to diagnose and repair equipment throughout all areas of the plant as required.
· Perform related work and additional duties as needed or required.
Education/Experience:
An associate degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology, vocational training, military certification, and/or five years of progressively advanced level of mechanical and electrical experience in industry. Proficiency at interpreting vendor drawings, diagrams and schematics. Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, PLC’s (programmable logic controllers), HMI’s (human machine interfaces) and VFD’s (variable frequency drivers) required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· An in-depth knowledge of electronic components and electrical equipment with a strong mechanical aptitude.
· Advanced analytical, complex-problem solving, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills (mechanical and electrical) required.
· Must be proficient at reading schematics, complex multi view drawings, PLC ladder logic and wiring diagrams.
· Team player with good communication skills (verbal, written).
· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with leads, peers, co-workers and vendors.
· Ability to use power tools and machine shop equipment.
· Occasionally lift and/or manually move up to 50#.
· Occasionally required to work at heights up to 30 feet above ground on a ladder, in a scissors lift or in a boom lift.
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and MS Excel.
· Must supply own hand tools standard and metric with the exception of specialty tools.
· Prior experience in Printing-Direct Mail industry helpful.
