Location:  Home office in Philadelphia, PA

Compensation and Benefits:  Annual pay range for this position is:  $40,000-$45,000.  AASHE offers competitive pay and a generous benefits package including but not limited to: health, dental and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid vacation and sick time.

The Membership Operations Coordinator provides operational and administrative support to the Membership & Marketing Department, and is the key point person who consistently provides high quality customer service to our members.  Primary responsibilities include the processing of membership applications, distribution of membership dues renewals and processing, management of accurate and timely membership records in our database, and support of our membership engagement and retention programs and member prospect recruitment campaigns.  The position works to provide a positive member experience by assisting, engaging, and educating members and potential members about AASHE and its membership benefits and services.  This position reports to the Membership Development Manager.



• Provides the highest level of customer service, responding to all inquiries and requests; builds valued relationships with members, non-members, donors and other stakeholders 

• Responds, records, tracks and reports on all member and other stakeholder inquiries and issues; prioritizes, escalates as needed

• In coordination with Membership Development Manager, implements member recruitment and renewal campaigns throughout the year for all member categories; tracks member interactions and reports on progress and trends

• Compiles, analyzes and processes membership and other program applications and payments, and coordinates membership renewals, including calling on members to remind of their membership invoice

• Supports Membership Development Manager in fulfillment of exhibit and sponsorship benefits

• Serves as subject matter expert for association management system, maintains accuracy of association contacts

• Reviews AASHE website to ensure accurate and timely content regarding membership services and programs and collaborates with Marketing and Communications Coordinator to provide current content

• Stays current with AASHE’s member benefits and program offerings and communicates them effectively, accurately, and in a timely fashion to all members and stakeholders 

• Performs other duties as assigned


• Minimum: BS/BA Degree

• At least two years in direct membership sales to organizations, companies, or colleges 

• At least two years of experience executing marketing/sales campaigns using AMS/CRM tools, email, and social media

• At least one year of demonstrated success in providing high levels of customer service in a virtual environment


• Accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, team members and staff

• Self-motivated in a non-traditional work environment

• Proven ability to meet established sales goals and quotas 

• Strong organizational and project management skills

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (or Apple or Google equivalents) computer applications and Internet sharing and conferencing applications (Skype, WebEx, Google Drive, etc.)

• Beginner to intermediate experience in the use of AMS systems (e.g., MemberSuite) to manage a sales pipeline and to design and execute campaigns to retain and grow memberships or customers

• Basic sales and marketing skills 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

• Able to manage and maintain a fully functioning professional home office 


Occasional travel is required for this job, including the annual conference for up to 7 days at a time.  Travel expenses are paid for or reimbursed by AASHE.
