Job Description Summary:
A Project-level Environmental at NewFields will work alongside our team of scientists and engineers to conduct engineering analyses and field investigations, design a variety of environmental restoration and remediation systems (including water treatment), and assist with construction management duties for projects designed by our team. The position requires use of design tools, models, and software. The position also requires superior communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to organize and analyze a variety of information to be used for decision-making, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines. An employee in this position is expected to work as a member of diverse project teams and efficiently accomplish specific tasks to achieve project-specific objectives. In addition to the technical requirements of the position, it is expected the person in this position could be designated as a Project Manager for particular assignments, requiring skills in managing the scope of work, project schedule and budget, project team, and all safety requirements associated with the tasks.
Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering. Candidate must also have a minimum of an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification and be actively working to become a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
Experience Requirement: A minimum of at least five years of progressively increasing engineering-related experience.
Software: Position requires applicant to have working knowledge of Microsoft Office© software and design software. Experience with Autodesk® AutoCAD Civil 3D® is preferred. Working knowledge of various types of numerical modeling software is advantageous.
Potential Travel: Travel to project sites located in the United States, Latin America, Africa, and elsewhere. The longest field assignment will likely be on the order of 2-3 weeks. It is expected approximately 80-90% of work time will be spent within the home office of the individual.
Physical Demands: Position requires sitting/standing for long periods of time, extended hours working on a computer and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments can be located in a variety of environments and cultures, including difficult and diverse climates. During field assignments, standing, squatting, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds may be required over prolonged periods of time.
