JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTIBILITY:

The primary duties of the Program Coordinator are to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Mpowerment program, staff, and Safe Space, workforce development and community outreach initiative. This individual will work directly with the LGBTQ+ population to ensure their health and workforce development goals. 

This position will submit reports accurately reflecting program participants’ progress toward goal attainment, using a designated system and/or other related databases as needed. Responsibilities include assisting with the creation and delivery of training classes, employment, and support of all activities of wraparound services for the participant. 


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide new team members with Onboarding Training Guide and review guide 
  • Sign up members for education and work collaboration with City of Detroit.
  • Ensure clients are engaged in community activities 
  • Recruit Core Group members 
  • Manage case files to ensure proper data collection and reporting
  • Assist with creating program policies and procedures 
  • Host workshops to assist clients in resume creation, elevator speeches, job searching, basic computer training. 
  • Coordinators will assemble committees for the Core Group to focus on financial products and resources on an ongoing basis
  • Facilitate M Groups, help plan activities and promotion and marketing
  • Willing to participate in professional development
  • Providing general assistance to members i.e active listening, answering questions
  • Activities associated with enrolling new members into the project.
  • Activities related to initial rapport building, completing an intake form, gathering eligibility information, completing consents and releases as needed
  • Activities related to monitoring client’s service plan - assisting with education/ work related challenges.
  • Activities related to providing a referral of ANY type, advocating on client’s behalf regarding referral, or following up with referral source or client on referral outcome, receiving referral from partnering programs / sources.
  • Collect, track and report required data using for all participants 
  • Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving/Effective Communication/Team organizing 
  • Fulfill any projects that are appointed by Program Manager 
  • Look for trainings for the team if any available 
  • Be knowledgeable of the team’s weekly/monthly goals and assist team with executing these goals 
  • Encourage and support each team member 
  • Intakes sessions
  • Monitor team Progress and Performance 
  • Create and submit monthly updates and quarterly reports as required 
  • Motivate team members skill sets
  • Representing and advocating for team needs 
  • Motivating and assisting team members to accomplish goals

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Lived experience. 
  • Associate degree in related human services field. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in HIV prevention and education, adult training and workforce development programs. 
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with a variety of data systems 
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality services for adults 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational abilities 
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License 
  • Occasional use of personal vehicle to perform job duties.  
  • Current vehicle insurance

WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Works in a normal office environment with usual pressures of managing personnel and dealing with time constraints. Because of the need to meet with others within the community, it is common to drive to several locations, sometimes in inclement weather.
