Job Summary:

Plant Prefab is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to work with an expanding team to provide successful delivery of the various projects being built in our Tejon Ranch factory. Assistant Project Managers perform various coordinating tasks, like schedule/specification review, along with administrative duties, maintaining project documentation, RFIs, and change orders. APM’s work with the Project Managers to assist in ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management and communication skills and will collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines. The position will be based in our Tejon Ranch, CA facility and report to the Fabrication PM Lead.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate various project management activities.
  • Create and submit accurate change orders in a timely fashion.
  • Help review/update budgets and scope of work documents.
  • Coordinate procurement schedules and provide takeoffs to the purchasing department to ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor project progress and handle issues as they arise.
  • Interact with Clients, Architects, Engineers, MEP Designers, State and Local Jurisdictions, and Plant Management and Staff to understand and incorporate project objectives.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, reports, pictures, and videos.
  • Ensure that quality standards and requirements are met for all projects.
  • Make sure that clients’ needs are met as projects evolve.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports (including progress photo documentation).
  • At certain times, may act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants.
Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven work experience as an Assistant Project Manager or similar role
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in ground up Residential, Multifamily Construction or related trades. Or 1-2 years in project management, from conception to delivery
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., PlanSwift, Sage, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Projects, Autodesk Build, or similar)
  • Strong, working knowledge of blueprints, architectural plans, and structural plans
  • Familiarity quality control procedures
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Plant Prefab
  • PMP or Project management certification is a plus
