About the Role / Summary:
The Merchant for Food52 will support a comprehensive merchandising and planning strategy that helps deliver the Food52 Shop vision, sales, revenue and margin goals. This person supports the Merchandising department through a series of cross-functional tasks to bring commercially viable and distinctly Food52 products to market. The breadth of these tasks go from concept to launch to product storytelling on-site and via a slew of marketing campaigns. In this role, this person will live in the details of the Shop SKU assortment, and be the product - and customer - expert.
This position works closely with Planning, Marketing, Creative, and Content. This is a hybrid role reporting out of our Brooklyn Navy Yard office at least 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees Home & Tabletop categories to achieve category-level financial goals, develop product assortments, and drive new business strategies
- Has an eye for design and a deep understanding of the Food52 consumer and brand. Procures curated assortments and selects best-selling products that resonate with the Food52 community.
- Develops and maintains meaningful and successful partnerships with all category vendors
- Analyzes sales and shares insights, identifying opportunities with the Director
- Collaborates cross functionally to build an aesthetically-balanced and profitable assortment and develop compelling marketing plans for products
- Regularly attends trade shows domestically and internationally
- Visually merchandises categories, collections, and marketing blasts to display products in most compelling (and highest-converting) light
- Works with Design and Product Development counterparts to manage products from design/assorting to PO placement
- Manages in-season optimization through business reporting and analysis – including owning weekly reporting and data analysis for business reviews
- Manages and mentors Assistant Merchant(s) and other team members to develop them as merchandisers

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 to 5 years Merchandising experience
- Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel proficiency
- Ability to read sales trends and apply learnings
- Passion for home and tabletop product and ability to identify emerging business opportunities
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work autonomously, strong decision-making skills with good judgment, and handling multiple priorities
- Strong understanding of brand customer and aesthetic
- Collaborative spirit with experience in a cross-functional role
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize work effectively with a high sense of urgency
- Must be able to work in US without visa sponsorship

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
COMPENSATION
This is an exempt role. The target pay range for this role is between $90,000 to $100,000.
