Position Overview:
The DC Fulfillment Center Supervisor is responsible for providing the leadership and direct supervision over the warehouse associates assigned to their specific work team. As the Team Lead Supervisor, you will be called upon to oversee, coordinate, and direct the team’s work performance in accordance with the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and HR protocols. You will be required to coordinate with your DC Manager and other Senior Management to plan efficient usage of the labor resources available and to make labor shifts as prioritizations within the operations change. You will be expected to assist the team by performing various work task duties in support of meeting the processing of internal and external customer orders correctly and on time. This role has an administration function which requires daily recording and reporting of work performance achievements verses team performance KPI’s.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall performance and achievement of the daily productivity requirements of your work area team.
- Acts as a team builder who plans, staffs, directs, and ensures the efficient operation of the team. Schedules staffing levels based on work need.
- Responsible for ensuring that your employees are working in compliance with the company’s Code of Conduct.
- Take the appropriate steps to coach, council, and discipline employee behaviors and work performance as required and directed in coordination with HR
- Communicate all employee conduct and performance issues with the DC Operations Manager and HR prior to taking specific actions with the employee.
- Ensure compliance by all team members that their work is being performed consistently to the standards as outlined by the work task SOPs.
- Provides regular oversight, feedback and retraining as needed to help team members develop and improve.
- Ensures compliance by all team members to company safety, equipment, and housekeeping policies.
- Maintain proactive communications with your team members, other Team Leads, and your direct supervisor during the work shift.
- Hold Team meetings with employees to communicate goals and objective as well as provide training in new SOP’s or related topics.
- Responsible for the receipt of all Inbound container receiving and special projects that relate to customers/products that are handled from DC
- Ensure all supporting paperwork has been prepared in advance and the work area is organized and ready to begin the operation.
- Ensure products are offloaded, organized, counted, and placed into the proper storage locations for either restock and or overstock.
- Verify all counts and any variances and communicate to the DC Operations Manager and other supporting functions if problems are noted.
- Provide daily oversight of the outbound order Pulling/Packing/Shipping teams including planning for the appropriate staffing levels necessary to achieve the daily work plan across all customer sales channels.
- Responsible for ensuring all SOP’s are being followed and that time metrics for each operation is being tracked and recorded. Most of shipments will be truck load and multi truck load and will require specialized packing and labeling standards.
- Record and communicate any process exceptions or failures to the Operations Manager and all other appropriate departments in a timely manner.
- Ensure accurate supporting paperwork is submitted to the dedicated Strategic Account Specialist in a timely manner.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining employee cross training efforts to ensure a flexible and competent workforce is in place.
- Ensure all employees operating equipment have received the proper training and certifications prior to allowing them to operate any equipment within the facility.
- Ensure all employees are follow safety procedures, such as the use of safety harnesses or seat belts, when operating equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation, counseling, and retraining in all instances where an employee has violated a safety policy.
- Notify the company’s HR safety administrator of any violations in safety compliances.
- Maintain the cleanliness standards of the DC facility daily.
- Set a house keeping schedule for each area and assign responsibilities for keeping the area clean and free from dust, trash and debris.
- Ensure that products are neatly stacked within the shelving and that boxes are regularly dusted.
- Cross trained to be capable of assuming the lead supervisory responsibilities in the absence of another team lead supervisor.
- Perform various other warehouse task responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- High energy level with a personality that is centered around successfully achieving goals and metrics.
- Displays leadership in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner.
- Maintains professional and courteous relationships with all warehouse associates while positioning themselves in a leadership supervisory position.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with diverse personalities and backgrounds.
- Strong planning, multi-tasking, and administrative skills including the use of computers, email, and MS Office software programs.
Education and/or Work/Skill Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum one to three years direct warehouse experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment where small parcel and LTL/LT customer order processing occurs
- Previous supervisory experience managing 3-10 team members.
- Familiarity with distribution software systems highly preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
