Description

The Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity’s Housing Advocacy Programs seek an energetic and committed individual with a high degree of initiative to join our team as the Family Housing Voucher Program Benefit Specialist. In this position you will primarily provide technical and administrative work such as conducting eligibility assessments, reviewing subsidy applications for completeness, and ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Housing Opportunity Grant (HOP). The Family Housing Voucher Program is a rental assistance support program for families with dependent children experiencing homelessness across Vermont.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus two years of administrative or community service experience or combination of education and experience from which comparable skills and knowledge are acquired.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; must be detail-oriented, self-disciplined in time management, and able to adhere to simultaneous deadlines.

Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with high risk and homeless populations.

Strong interest in and commitment to the overall needs and problems of low income and homeless families.

Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively and in a positive manner with a diverse population, landlords, and other social service providers; bilingual abilities are a plus.

Salary Description
$18.36- $22.94/hr
