Print Quality Technician

Brook + Whittle is currently seeking a full-time Quality Technician to join our fast-growing flexographic printed labels and packaging facility in Guilford, CT. This position will directly report to the Quality Department Manager. 

The ideal candidate will have a printing, packaging or label background. Someone that is self-motivated, forward-thinking, willing to challenge the status quo, and demonstrate a positive attitude. 


Print Quality Technician Primary Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Support and assist shift supervisor.
  • Quality Assurance Press Check signed at the beginning of each job.
  • Random checks performed to verify color, copy, ink adhesion, UPC code, varnish and general print quality. Roll ends inspected during random checks.
  • Understand all production materials and paperwork.
  • Make impactful decisions related to quality and production when approving Finishing defects.
  • Inspect Finishing retains that come through the lab for defects. 
  • Perform roll end inspections from Press Hall inspecting for defects, color variation, varnish, etc.
  • File all roll ends by Month and Press.
  • Operate and understand all quality testing equipment.
  • Make folding standards, flat standards and sample labels for the customer.
  • Order monthly inventory consumables. 
  • Maintain customer standards in both the lab and Account Management area.
  • File customer signed folding standards and proofs.
  • Notify Quality Manager if there are any issues preventing the sign-off from taking place.
  • Report any issues or hazards to managers and supervisors.
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime, including Saturday’s, when production warrants it.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned. 

Print Quality Technician Job Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing facility, print, packaging or label industry
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and Prepare PowerPoint presentations. 1 year (preferred)
  • Excellent written/verbal communications skills and strong technology proficiency.
  • Industry certification a plus. ISO 9001:2015, 1 year (preferred)
  • Must be proficient in using metric and standard measuring devices.
  • Ability to remain poised under difficult/stressful circumstances.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality.
  • Take direction well from Quality Lead and Quality Manager.
  • Make recommendations to process improvements according to procedures.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Attendance and punctuality are a must. Flexibility to work overtime, as required. Quality Assurance is vital for verifying all finished goods and quality standards are upheld. 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction.
