Position Overview:
As a Staff Accountant, the individual in this role will provide meticulous financial support, manage monthly close processes for multiple nonprofit client accounts, oversee deposit and investment accounts, and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting through tasks such as annual budget development and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, accurate, and complete monthly financial reports to the Director of Accounting, Executive Director as well as volunteer leadership.
- Manage monthly close process and all related tasks for up to 8 nonprofit client accounts.
- Oversight on all deposit and investment accounts.
- Maintain oversight of the day to day activities – AP, AR, cash management, expense reporting, etc.
- Development of annual budgets, cash flow projections, variance analysis, and all other reporting on an as-needed basis.
- Responsible for oversight of the annual audit and tax return process.
- Verify and maintain coding on all invoices in accordance with programmatic general ledgers.
- Review and confirm invoice details prior to processing of invoices.
- Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Preparation, review and reconciliation of monthly financial reporting.
- All other duties as assigned as Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3+ years of proven accounting experience
- Strong understanding of association management and nonprofits.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with extensive Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with ability to convey information in writing and verbally.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Self-starter who is driven and has the ability to work independently
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail in order to produce accurate results
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to support strategic direction
Working Environment:
- Percentage of travel - 5%
- This position is remote and requires prolonged sitting with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 pounds. Employees are expected to maintain a comfortable home office setup and adhere to safety guidelines for physical need, ensuring a balanced and productive work experience.
