The Manufacturing Engineer employs Six Sigma methodologies to make data driven improvements to processes in order to achieve better quality, increased speed and reduced cost. All work will be supported by data and documented in order to conclusively communicate results and recommendations. Provides the plant with better, more complete information to make decisions.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include: 

  • Maintain reliable and safe CNC machining manufacturing process while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Assist in the identification, design and development of new equipment and tooling sources.
  • Assist in the development of internal process and procedures to facilitate APQP requirements.
  • Monitors business and manufacturing processes and identifies problem solving projects.
  • Assists in providing direction, training and work priorities to the Process Techs and Maintenance personnel assigned to the area. 
  • Investigates manufacturing-related Corrective and Preventive Actions. 
  • Assists to develop, optimize and maintain automated/lean solutions for manufacturing and other business processes.
  • Estimate machining cycle times for new parts.
  • Estimate tooling needs for new parts and existing part improvements. 
  • Develop manufacturing plans for parts and assemblies, create visual work instructions, and collaborate with our design engineering team to resolve technical issues and to ensure that we meet quality and delivery requirements. 


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or other related Engineering degree.
  • 3 to 5 years minimum manufacturing plant experience.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred: Six Sigma, DMAIC or similar problem-solving methodology experience.
  • Experience with milling, turning processes in both CNC and manual application is preferred. Robotic handling and program experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with basic cutter selection, spindle feed, speed rates and cycle time estimations.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Solid Works, Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to support projects
  • Ability to travel to Aludyne locations in North America to support projects
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
