Description

The Prevention Specialists are responsible for offering evidence-based curriculum to members in our Clubs and community settings throughout the year to equip children and teens to engage in positive behaviors. Some of the program benefits are communication, good decision making, self-management and awareness and healthy relationships. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 


Participation:

  • Accountable for recruiting and enrolling eligible youth into program
  • Accountable for meeting participation goals and objectives

Prevention Curriculum:

  • Accountable for acting as liaison between target schools, organization staff, and program staff
  • Accountable for providing services and activities to meet the needs of enrolled members
  • Accountable for fidelity of curriculum 

Prevention Activities:

  • Accountable for conducting prevention activities
  • Accountable for quality programming and activities

Administrative Duties:

  • Accountable for accurate and timely documentation and reporting 
Requirements


Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with youth

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ability to work regular program hours with periodic evenings, nights and weekends
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to be patient with youth and adult
  • Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
  • Ability to network as well as build and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to obtain APS and CPS credentials by set deadline
  • Ability to work with at-risk youth
  • Knowledge of technology and software such as tablets, social media, cloud based tools, virtual meeting tools
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time
  • Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage
