Position Overview:
As the Director of Finance for one of our many non-profit association clients, this individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and integrity of the organization. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Outsourced Client Services, they will lead a dedicated team responsible for all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, and more. Their strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail will guide the organization's financial decision-making and contribute to the achievement of the organization's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
- Support the development of pricing strategies for new products and services.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and inform leadership about financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
5-Year Forecast:
- Preparation of a comprehensive 5-year forecast including Projected Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows.
12-Month Rolling Forecast:
- Development of a dynamic 12-month rolling forecast with regular updates to reflect the most current information and insights.
Budget to Actual Reporting & Review:
- Collaboration with the in-house Controller to generate standard financial reports and concise summaries highlighting key findings and major variations between actual and budgeted figures.
Monthly Budget Development:
- Partnership with the CEO and EVP to develop a comprehensive 12-month budget aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
Weekly Cash Flow Projection:
- Preparation of a 13-week cash flow projection to assess short-term financial health and future cash flows.
Customer Analysis:
- Segmentation of revenues and costs by customer to identify the most profitable customer segments.
Product Line Analysis:
- Segmentation of revenues and costs by product line to determine the profitability of each product line.
Contribution Analysis:
- Evaluation of the contribution margin to overall profitability for every dollar generated in revenue.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to in-house staff resources including a Controller, Accounts Payable Clerk, and Accounts Receivable Clerk.
- Experience Preferred: Experience with 501(c)(6) organizations and annual independent audits is preferred.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all tax obligations, including oversight for local, state, and federal filing obligations and managing the organization's tax-exempt status.
- Stay up to date with relevant nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory changes.
Team Leadership and Development
- Provide strong leadership to the dedicated client team, fostering a collaborative and high[1]performing environment.
- Coach and mentor team members, encouraging professional growth and development.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and improve accounting processes to streamline operations, enhance accuracy, and increase efficiency.
- Implement accounting software and tools to optimize financial management.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between financial strategies and organizational goals.
- Act as a financial advisor to external client department heads, offering insights on budget management and resource allocation
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
- 10+ years of proven experience in nonprofit financial management and accounting leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of association management and nonprofits.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. SAGE Intacct experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of team management and development.

- This position is remote and requires prolonged sitting with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 25 pounds. Employees are expected to maintain a comfortable home office setup and adhere to safety guidelines for physical need, ensuring a balanced and productive work experience.
