Description
Located in Lexington, KY or New York, NY, this role reports directly to the Managing Director of Operations. The responsibilities of the VP/Director of Operations – Restructuring & Turnarounds include the following:
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Develop and execute comprehensive restructuring and turnaround plans
- Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement strategies
- Conduct thorough assessments of financial and operational performance
- Drive improvements in liquidity management and cash forecasting
- Negotiate with vendors and customers on behalf of the portfolio company
Board & C-Suite Collaboration:
- Collaborate with portfolio company boards and executive teams to align on strategic priorities and action plans
- Provide expert guidance and support to C-suite executives during restructuring processes
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of initiatives
Performance Improvement:
- Analyze and optimize key business processes to drive operational excellence
- Monitor and track performance metrics to measure the impact of restructuring efforts
- Implement best practices and industry benchmarks to improve business outcomes
Change Management:
- Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth transitions during restructuring phases
- Develop communication plans to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged
- Address resistance to change and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Financial Oversight:
- Oversee financial restructuring activities, including debt refinancing and capital structure optimization
- Work closely with financial teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
- Identify opportunities for value creation through strategic financial planning and analysis
Due Diligence and Risk Management:
- Conduct due diligence on potential acquisition targets
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with restructuring and turnaround activities
- Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges and setbacks
Leadership and Team Development:
- Build a high-performing operations team dedicated to restructuring and turnarounds
- Develop restructuring and turnaround playbook outlining specific activities to be taken during the phases of a restructuring situation
- Establish a scorecard to monitor portfolio performance for potential companies that will require restructuring and turnaround support due to decline in performance and covenant default
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities
- Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years experience in restructuring, turnarounds, and operational improvement within a private equity or consulting environment
- Strong financial acumen and expertise in financial restructuring and performance optimization
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to navigate complex and dynamic business environments
- Track record of successfully collaborating and partnering with boards and C-suite executives to drive value creation
