Intern-Associate Engineer
Description

New Wave Design is looking for entry level Digital Design Engineers to join our engineering team to create innovative high-performance networking systems and products based on our high-bandwidth, low latency programmable network interface cards.

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, collaborative individuals with a degree in electrical or computer engineering. They will have a passion for developing FPGA based electronic products. Your responsibilities will include RTL coding, synthesis, timing analysis, simulation, verification and lab test and debug. Some knowledge of a hardware description language (VHDL or Verilog) and logic simulators is required.

Candidates must have strong problem solving skills, be a good communicator, and work independently and as part of a team to achieve project and business objectives.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and Simulation:

Collaborate with digital design engineers to create, simulate, and validate digital designs

Use industry-standard tools and methodologies to develop digital circuit systems

Testing and Verification:

Assist in testing and verifying digital designs to ensure they meet performance and functionality requirements

Help identify and resolve design issues

Documentation:

Prepare and maintain design documentation, including schematics, design specifications, and test reports

Contribute to comprehensive records of the design process

Problem Solving:

Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to digital designs

Work closely with the team to find creative solutions to complex engineering problems

Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to integrate digital designs into larger projects

Gain exposure to the full product development cycle

Learning and Development:

Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies

Continuously enhance skills and knowledge in digital design engineering

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the field of engineering

Represent the company in a professional manner

Qualifications (Education, Training, Skills, and Experience):

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

Strong foundation in digital design principles and digital circuits

Familiar with HDL (VHDL, Verilog) and FPGA programming is a plus

Proficiency in digital design tools and software (e.g., Cadence, Xilinx, Altera)

Basic understanding of integrated circuit design and simulation

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team

Physical Parameters:

Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds

Must be able to lift 20 pounds over the head

Must have finger and wrist dexterity with repetitive motion

Salary Description
$15-$25/hour
