Description

The Financial Project Accountant is responsible for analyzing and monitoring costs, budgets, and projects to provide real-time financial reports and key performance indicators utilizing and leveraging ERP system functionality. The incumbent will collaborate with cross functional teams to provide planning, budgeting, and report analysis. 


  

Essential Job Functions:

  

  • Track and reporting financial data and reports in the ERP system to support real-time financial positions.
  • Leverage ERP system capabilities to enhance planning, budgeting, cost analysis, and variances. 
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting system, policies, and procedures within the ERP system including dashboards, Smartsheet, and other financial planning tools. 
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Preparing and reviewing budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and inventory costs to ensure accuracy and identify variances. 
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports and financial statements.
  • Advising: Providing guidance on the financial implications of decisions and advising on systems for recording financial data.
  • Assist in filing, assisting with annual budgets, and ensuring proper payments to suppliers.
  • Analyze financial data and provide accurate and timely information to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Conduct variance analysis and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Auditing: Supporting audits and resolving discrepancies including inventory levels and reconciling inventory accounts.
Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including collaboration and presentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, UKG, ReportsNow, and SmartSheet.
  • High level of detail and accuracy.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required and/or 5 years relevant work experience in related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial project accounting, or related experience.
  • NetSuite and/or UKG experience preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise interns as needed.
