Position Summary:

Our Mechanical Team Leaders will manage and lead a team of employees by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team. They will motivate team members and assesses performance and provides help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance.


Responsibilities:

Ø Coordinates with Manufacturing Manager at the start of each shift to establish clear expectations for work to be completed during the shift and reports out at the end of each shift to summarise status of work completed.

Ø Effectively manages performance of team members, addressing any ongoing issues through the companies disciplinary/grievance procedures if required.

Ø Provides performance review input and participates in interviewing new hire candidates.

Ø Plans project activity for the shift and assigns mechanical team members appropriate tasks.

Ø Oversees mechanical Team Members during the shift to assure compliance with all safety policies, quality practices & productivity expectations applicable to the work being performed.

Ø Provides real-time guidance to Mechanical Team Members to address any issues affecting completion of planned work assignments (technical, procedural, material-related, etc.).

Ø Reports project needs, material requirements, and any planning & scheduling issues that are affecting planned work activities to Manufacturing Manager to assure manpower resources can be utilised in the most effective and efficient manner.

Ø Maintains and promotes communication with and among team members to ensure common understanding of purpose, methods and progress toward committed goals.

Ø Interacts as necessary with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other Team Leads to obtain/provide information necessary to resolve problems and progress work.

Ø Participates in Team Leader/Shop Floor meetings, project meetings, design reviews, or other similar meetings as may be required to share important information.

Ø Supports employee training activities to help assure accurate understanding of technical requirements, as well as productivity expectations of the job.

Ø Reviews and approves mechanical team member paid time off request forms.

Ø Maintains security and secures the building at the end of the shift.

Ø Execute other tasks as assigned.

Ø Ability to travel when required.

Ø Reviews and approves weekly time and attendance for payroll.

Ø Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

Ø Leaving Certificate or equivalent.

Ø Experience in Mechanical Assembly and Welding.

Ø Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site.

Ø Required to stand for long periods of time and may involve heavy manual labour.

Ø You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull,

and carry items. Exposure to loud noises.

Ø Ability to wear personal protective equipment.

Ø Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.  

Ø Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus
