Accounting and Employee Experience Generalist
Description

The Accounting and Employee Experience Generalist splits their time between Accounting tasks and HR responsibilities outlined here.  Experience and or education in Accounting is needed as well as strong people skills and detail orientation.  This is a fully on-site position and is split between both accounting and traditional HR roles with cycles of more or less emphasis on each.  All aspects of this position require extreme discretion with regards to personal employee information and company financial information


Accounting Generalist

The Accounting generalist is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the company and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded to the general ledger.  As an Accountant, you are primarily engaged in keeping the accounting records up to date and accurate.  This is accomplished by performing the necessary accounting and reconciliation tasks to record business transactions to the general ledger.  As such, you should have a knowledge of accrual accounting.  Daily tasks can include making vendor payments, conducting account reconciliations, entering sales data, maintaining accounting sub-ledgers, and any number of similar activities.


Accounting Tasks

  • Pay vendors in accordance with vendor due dates, ensuring that early payment discounts are utilized where appropriate.
  • Monitor expenses for items that need to be capitalized in accordance with company fixed asset and prepaid expense policies.
  • Review finished monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation.
  • Continual monitoring of financials statements for anomalies/inaccuracies
  • Take ownership in the  inventory reconciliation process on ongoing basis
  • Ensure that revenue and sales transaction information is recorded into the financial records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile cash accounts on a daily basis.
  • Process Payroll bi-weekly

Employee Experience Generalist (HR)

This person is responsible to ensure that all new and current employees have a positive experience learning and navigating OGE’s policies and benefits, are onboarded effectively and clearly, and have a place to go when they have significant grievances against the organization, their manager, or another employee.

  • Onboarding - ensuring that all new hires receive the same flow of information and are walked through the employee manual with particular attention to key legal aspects of our manual before having those signed off on. 
  • Employee Records and Reviews - ensuring all employee records are maintained and regular reviews and metrics of performance are received and delivered as appropriate
  • Benefit Administration: Ensuring that all OGE Benefits and Policies are supported and, where necessary, revisited.  Ensuring compliance with 401k and Insurance protocols as well as the development and execution of annual open enrollment for insurance and timed inclusion in these plans for new employees are keys to this role
  • Conflict resolution - be a neutral resource to allow employees with significant grievances that are not able to be addressed directly between the individuals involved can be handled by a neutral internal party.
  • Assistance with Performance Improvement Plans, Corrective Action, and Termination - The nuance of these situations needs an experienced, empathetic, and non-emotional party to ensure parity across the organization as well as ensure the organization is protected from further action on behalf of an aggrieved or terminated employee
  • Offboarding: Ensuring that all aspects of moving an employee out of the organization are handled consistently, appropriately, and in a timely manner
Requirements

Qualifications for the accounting aspects of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • The position requires proficiency with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel and strong time management, analytical, communication and organizational skills.  Candidate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting a plus;, otherwise 3 years’ experience. 
  • Ability to work productively and be self-directed on projects, meet deadlines, and also be a good team member when working on group projects.
