Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This is a salaried position in City of Industry, CA that reports to the Corporate HR Director. Under general supervision, this position ensures the development, implementation, & updates of required written safety & health programs & plans for the HACO Culinary organization .
SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION:
- Conduct periodic safety & health walk through inspections of all workplace facilities.
- Assist in conducting inspections of the workplace ensuring safety standards are met & being enforced consistently.
- Ensure that monthly safety trainings & all other specific required training is provided for all employees.
- Conduct accident/injury investigations & illness exposure monitoring.
- Establish & monitor program for reporting & investigating “near-miss” situations to prevent accidents from occurring.
- Verify daily safety reports are being completed, (e.g., forklift & machine inspection sheets).
- Investigate & validate employee inquiries, suggestions, complaints, & concerns regarding safety.
- Maintain required safety & health document files.
- Ensure all safety programs are updated & implemented. Safety programs include & are not limited to the following: Blood Borne Pathogens, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Hazardous Communication, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Action Plan, etc.
- Conduct safety orientation & facility walks with the new employees.
- Prepare written reports, summaries & training documents as needed during audits.
- Respond to emergency situations & participate in the incident investigation.
- Ensure that all first aid kits are stocked & ready for use.
- Responsible for making sure the fire extinguishers & sprinkler system are in optimal condition.
- Coordinate quarterly safety committee & safety awareness meetings.
- Oversee the applications for receipt of necessary permits Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Environmental Reporting System (CERS), high risers, water treatment, etc.
- Follow up on safety work orders to ensure they are completed & done properly.
- Conduct annual Emergency Evacuation & contingency program to assure full compliance with State/Federal OSHA regulations.
- Compile & submit daily, weekly, monthly, & yearly reports regarding safety injuries.
- Ensure timely documentation, not limited to, incident investigation reports, safety talks, monthly trainings, forklift inspections, etc.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Track incident metrics (IR Rates, DART Rates, LTC) & apply findings.
- Monitor all activities relating to the plant uniform service, & the shoe program.
- Order all proper PPE, spice room & sanitation supplies, office supplies & emergency tools needed for production & chemicals for sanitation.
- Monitors housekeeping supplies & keeps records of housekeeping activities.
- Will interact with multiple departments within the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- A.A. Degree or equivalent form a 2-year collage or technical school; or 4-6 years’ related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- Solid knowledge of safety regulations & procedures.
- Effective communication both verbally & written.
- Travel required between 10-15% of the time.
