Key Account Manager - Transport/AOEM

Description

 Summary

The ideal candidate for this position should have a proven track record of demonstrated abilities and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the abrasives or related industries of transportation. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills and a passion for developing and sustaining strong client relationships.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Main responsibility is to build and sustain long-term relationships with the following groups:

- National and large regional key partners

- Industrial Companies (including training facilities)

- End Users

  • Work with Sector Leader to assist in defining key targets for further development.
  • Identify, initiate, and manage relationships at the middle management level within target organizations: end-user accounts & distributors.
  • Conduct and manage surveys, testing, and present results.
  • Manage launch schedule and implementation of conversions.
  • Training – develop and conduct training curriculum in module format for technicians, national distributors, and tech centers. Training will include product use, tools, systems, SOPs, etc.
  • Train the trainer – coordinate activities with local sales rep and raise their skillset for local account support.
  • Provide local District Sales Manager detailed expectations for account follow-up and ongoing account development milestones and goals.
  • Effective two-way communication with MUS sales organization, at all levels.
  • Support the sales organization to achieve new/existing customer growth and new/existing product growth within the above-described area of responsibility.
  • Assist and evaluate new products for the addition and introduction into our product offering.
  • Identify product development opportunities to sales & marketing groups.
  • Responsible for supporting promotional programs, product introductions, pricing, and applications in KAM’s area of responsibility.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on company business plan.
  • Become the resident expert on trends in the Transport industry, specifically relating to end use customers (competitors, process/application changes). As the market changes, the KAM must translate this information and identify the overall impact to MUS and proactively communicate action plan(s) to react accordingly to the changing conditions.
  • Actively use and support company CRM requirements and objectives to simplify the sales and marketing process and to create better customer service.

  • 5+ years of abrasive industry or related industries experience such as paint, adhesives, paint or surface refinishing required.
  • 5+ years of outside sales experience required
  • Process and application knowledge across relevant industry sectors
  •  Experience and understanding of relevant industry standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Competency in computer, presentation, and business media 
  • Experience in development and conducting training of others
  • Interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to build consensus and influence others through diplomacy and use of facts
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to conduct research and compile recommendations based on analysis and fact-finding results
  • Ability to take plans and put them into action and see through to final result
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Ability to develop and nurture executive level contacts and/or extensive network in abrasives industry
