Senior Data Scientist - Predictive Modeling
Description

About Abett

Abett envisions a world where everyone has access to high quality, affordable, and timely healthcare. We exist to build innovative solutions that deliver transparency, accountability, and competition to the healthcare system.

The flow of healthcare data is complex and messy. Employers are the key consumer of healthcare in the US, but historically, they could not leverage their benefits plan data. The Abett Lockbox empowers employers to take control of their data and achieve better outcomes, lower costs, and less headache for their benefits staff and plan members.

Our problem

Why are we hiring a Sr. Data Scientist, with a specific focus on predictive modeling?

  • Abett’s clients are large, US-based employers. They use Abett’s signature product, the Lockbox, to aggregate and manage a broad array of benefit plan data. This includes individual-level information from internal HR systems; benefits eligibility systems; claims data from third-party administrators and pharmacy benefits managers; and “activity” data from point solutions and other plan vendors.
  • Abett is expanding our efforts to develop predictive models to understand the health of member populations, the drivers of employer-sponsored healthcare costs, and the value of benefit offerings. In light of our expanding predictive modeling offerings,
  • Abett’s Health Economics and Outcomes Research team is looking for a machine learning focused data scientist to join our team which includes a mix of predictive modeling and causal inference specialists.

We are hiring a Sr. Data Scientist to develop predictive models and support broader data science infrastructure improvements and initiatives.

Role Summary

This role’s objectives are to develop predictive models for cost, utilization, and health outcomes primarily using healthcare claims data in addition to supplemental sources such as point solution specific data feeds and HR information system databases. The role will require investing time in data cleaning, data management, model development, and learning about specific priority clinical domains.

As key deliverables, this team works on both product development that often includes pilots with specific clients and follow-up product development by our Data Engineering and Software Development teams. Our team also pursues independent research in our priority clinical and healthcare domains including peer-reviewed publications. If you are interested in the combination of product development and research, this is the role for you!
