About this role

Alumni Ventures is seeking a full-time Fund Accountant. 


The role requires a diverse knowledge of accounting and reporting in addition to strong general ledger skills analytical and interpersonal skills as well as full cycle accounting experience. The Fund Accountant will provide general accounting function from data entry through general ledger close and reconciliation.


This position is based out of Alumni Ventures’ Boston or Manchester, NH office and is a hybrid role, with an expectation that this individual will work in the office at least 4 days per week. Alumni Ventures is a fast-paced, professional, entrepreneurial environment.


Role/Responsibilities

  • Perform daily accounting of assigned series funds
  • Perform month end reconciliations and bank account closings as needed
  • Perform fund analysis and reporting to use in critical decision-making purposes
  • Work with outside tax consultants related to annual K-1 tax activities
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance daily activity execution as well as preparation of financial performance
  • Assist in generating routine and ad-hoc financial statements for management review
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Resolve accounting variances
  • Interface with investor relations, investment team, legal, corporate accounting, and executive management on fund related topics
  • Gather relevant investment documentation
  • Develop a working knowledge of what investment capital structures are to assist in recording portfolio company valuation updates
  • Work with the Fund Accounting team on time sensitive projects and initiatives to support Company’s goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business management
  • Two to four years accounting experience
  • Intermediate accounting skills along with strong analytical skills and abilities
  • Excellent computer skills particularly with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to train in all areas of accounting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to effectively interact with internal staff and external entities and service providers

Salary: $85,000-$90,000 plus equity and bonus
