Position
The Analyst, Research & Industry Strategy is a key member of the team and will execute by researching, synthesizing, developing, and writing content for various work activities, including internal and consulting projects. This position provides an opportunity to develop deeper subject matter expertise related to SEPA’s key areas of focus, including its focus areas, and build a reputation across the industry commensurate with that expertise.
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 with the target being around $60,000 based on experience.
Research and Analysis
- Contribute to methods for research design, collection, and analysis of data.
- Produce data visualizations to distill information and provide meaningful conclusions and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Develop relationships with other partners and vendors.
- Support data management and validation processes.
- Contribute to written reports and summaries of findings including key conclusions.
- Identify knowledge gaps, case studies and best practices for the energy sector.
- Capture and analyze electric power industry trends related to new utility business models, grid integration challenges, or similar topics related to SEPA’s focus areas.
- Work with other content experts, both internal and external, to help inform content development.
- Coordinate and support business development efforts through proposal development and engaging with SEPA members and potential partners.
Project Management Team & Support
- Execute on project tasks as assigned.
- Work independently and on teams to execute project work.
- Assist project team leads on various outreach tasks.
- Ensure timely project milestones are met for content development and publication processes.
- Provide project guidance and assistance to interns.
- Provide research request responses for internal staff, SEPA members and external stakeholders.
Industry Engagement
- Immerse oneself into becoming a subject matter expert through work experiences, and be able to present and articulate SEPA work.
- Adept at writing about work, case studies, etc.
- Work with SEPA’s marketing and communications teams to publicize research externally.
- Support SEPA working groups and custom workshops for SEPA members, as requested.
Qualifications
- One to two years experience in data research and analysis, with a background in engineering, energy policy, chemical or physical sciences, economics, data science, or other quantitative or social science fields.
- Knowledge or interest in electric utility, energy, renewable energy, and/or emerging technologies. Specific background in solar PV, energy storage, and other energy technology issues are a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information to a broad audience.
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills (including both quantitative and qualitative analysis) with demonstrated advanced spreadsheet and/or other data analysis platform skills.
