We are seeking an experienced Drainage Engineer with Airfield Civil /Aviation expertise, for land development/infrastructure improvement projects relating to transportation, site development and civil/drainage improvements, roadway and pavement improvements/rehabilitation, signage and markings, construction phasing/sequencing and design and/or management of improvements to associated drainage structures, such as culverts, storm drains, environmental, and detention/retention systems. Specific to aviation we are looking for experience with airport runway/taxiway design, aircraft parking, apron expansions, airfield lighting, and security fencing.
This position may also include engineering for facilities improvements including vehicle parking areas, roadways, signage, signals, tunnels, mass / transit, site development, and support facilities.
Responsibilities include.
• Work on various aspects of civil and drainage engineering design, plan preparation, permitting and construction oversight while working in a project team environment.
• Provide management, engineering, and design for projects relating to drainage, including airport runway/taxiway design, existing paving improvements, and expansions and fencing.
• Candidate would contribute to projects including collecting existing utility data; performing modeling and simulation; site grading; erosion control design, and stormwater permitting.
• Prepare project design drawings within AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/Open Roads.
• Prepare technical specifications, fee budgets, cost estimates, reports, schedules, and other related tasks.
• Preparation of design plans including plan and profiles, grading and drainage, storm drains, environmental, markings, and related design elements.
• Coordinate with team members and client representatives.
• Periodic travel to project sites for field investigation and or construction support.
• Project outlines, project initiation, project schedules, project executions, and project closeout.
• Interface with multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations pertaining to open channel design, storm sewer design, and culvert design.
• Perform water quality and water quantity calculations for stormwater management design.
• Prepare permit application documentation.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, sub-consultants, engineers & design/drafting technical staff.
• Permit research and review.
• Support and cross-train with other civil disciplines
• Designing and/or management of the design of drainage structures such as culverts, storm drains, environmental, and detention/retention systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE), preferred
• Minimum 15 years of experience with civil and drainage design.
• Ability to obtain airport security[RT1] [JP2] clearance for access authority.
• Experience on transportation projects and/or land development projects, aviation project experience preferred.
• Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
• Experience in cost estimating and project phasing and scheduling.
• Demonstrable educational background and interest in water engineering related work including drainage and water resource management.
• Experience in design of drainage conveyance systems and plans preparation in compliance with applicable regulations
• Familiarity with federal, State and Local Permitting Processes
• Familiar with contract document preparation and cost estimating
• Must be able to communicate effectively; verbal and written
• Knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
