This position supports the equity department’s inclusive economic growth, community development, and economic equity agendas. The equity department’s mission is to facilitate inclusive growth through employment, business growth, and community wealth within the 10-county southwestern Pennsylvania region. The team does this through qualitative, quantitative, and strategic analysis of key factors businesses, communities, and government organizations need to build a vital, globally competitive region.

 

JOB SUMMARY

A creative, organized person is needed for a paid internship to assist the Equity Department. This part-time position (up to 30 hours a week) will begin in September 2024 and last through December 2024, with possible extensions through the winter and spring of 2025. Work can be scheduled around classes. 

The position calls for a self-starter who is fearless in thinking creatively and can track down difficult-to-find information. In addition, the candidate should be able to meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects and maintaining the highest quality standards.   This individual has a high degree of intellectual curiosity, the ability to quickly learn new topics and concepts, and the desire to make the world a better place. The selected intern will gain valuable experience working alongside a dedicated team and will be critical in fulfilling the team’s primary responsibilities. The intern's responsibilities may vary based on the applicant’s interest and experience and the research areas the team is pursuing.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

· Perform secondary research by searching databases, company websites, and external surveys

· Support and complete research requests, including assembling demographic, economic, and business information

· Balance multiple priorities, working independently or participating as a part of a cross-functional team, keeping others informed   through clear written and verbal communication while maintaining a high level of productivity

· Perform routine scheduling and additional administrative tasks as needed


 JOB REQUIREMENT

Education:

Current university student working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree

Knowledge:

The candidate should be interested in areas such as research, economic development, community development, state and local government, public policy, and marketing.

Experience:

Experience   analyzing data and presenting outcomes in a visually compelling format

Experience with content   development and response tracking for LinkedIn

Skills:

Data   analysis and business analytics

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, quantitative, and project management skills

Proficient in MS Office suite and database software. 

A positive attitude and a willingness to jump in and help where needed.

Salary Description
$15 per hour
