Account Director, Tech
What We Need:
The Account Director, Technology, requires experience in deep B2B tech and highly proactive client relations with experience in developing proactive strategies and ideas to clients to instill confidence in the team and client to lead the business. Strong collaborating on and pitching about, some of the best tech brands on the market- supporting a team of pitchers and diving it to pitch yourself, when needed. The right AD candidate is committed to creative problem-solving, a positive mindset and flawless execution. This person will have a passion for cloud-y technologies, adtech, fintech, retail tech, cybersec, and more.
The word “teamwork” easily rolls off the tongue and is the main driver behind the work you produce.
Primary Responsibilities:
Client Management: Strong experience as the client lead, spearheading the strategy and execution of integrated accounts—across services or internationally, including seamlessly incorporation of B2B strategies in a proactive manner. Anticipate client needs and prepare in advance, troubleshooting clients’ problems as they arise; ensure that all accounts are strategically on target with clients’ business objectives. Manages deadlines and keeps team accountable.
Team Management: Manage multiple mid-to-large accounts and teams of three or more members cross-function and cross-geography. Team management and mentorship to drive results and guide junior team members. Works alongside practice leader to provide top-tier strategic counsel to account teams in a proactive and efficient manner to meet the client’s desired goals.
Strategy: Strong B2B strategic thinking and experience developing programming and plans from research to strategy to tactics and measurement. Lead client meetings and planning sessions; brainstorm with clients in real-time about media strategy and approach. Lead internal account team strategy sessions and the corresponding development, planning and execution of client media strategies. Proactively generate winning ideas and opportunities to support client objectives and stories
Writing: Excellent strategic writing skills with experience developing published opinion pieces and thought leadership content for clients.
Media Relations/Relationships: Maintain solid relationships with top-tier media and proven ability to drive results for strategic integrated media programs. Moderate media interviews; lead media training for C-level execs; oversee the creation of media briefs, key messages, and talking points; initiate implementation of media events such as press conferences, briefings, and media tours; serve as the senior on-site agency contact for press interviews at conferences and events.
Client Service: Responsible for setting a standard of excellent and consistent work, delivering superior client service at all times. Maintain a thorough understanding of clients’ businesses and industries; actively follow and understand emerging issues, trends, and news impacting clients’ business, and competitors, and proactively advise the team and client regarding how best to leverage or address these developments. Entertain clients appropriately to cement relationships and better understand their business.
Presentation Skills: Demonstrate superior presentation skills and proven ability to present plans and “sell in” new ideas to even the toughest clients. Be able to deliver a handful of slides in a new business presentation—both the creation of the slides and the presentation delivery.
Requirements/Qualifications + Success Factors
· 7+ years’ experience in enterprise tech, B2B and/or B2C tech
· Deep expertise working with and a passion for B2B tech brands
· Superior oral and written communication skills; advanced proofreading and editing ability
· Demonstrable record of contributing to winning new business, including the cultivation of strong client relationships
· Demonstrated proficiency and affinity for digital tools and platforms
· Experience supervising and providing guidance to junior team members; strong team building and mentorship aptitude; effectively develops and retains staff; reinforce the importance and value of each team member’s contributions
· Proven track record for providing and selling in highly strategic counsel/recommendations to clients; ability to handle crisis response and issues management
· Exposure to large-scale industry events and helping tech brands differentiate
· Ability to travel as necessary contingent on client and new business needs (requirements vary)
· Creative skills and passion for moving the needle for clients is a must
· Analyst relations and investor relations experience preferred but not mandatory
· Positive attitude to grow clients and team members
