Job Summary:

Bizzell US is seeking a Trades Lead responsible for the operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of building-related mechanical, electrical, control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion joints, and other building mechanical systems.  Work involves lifting heavy mechanical equipment and may be performed in extreme heat or cold areas. Receives and responds to service calls, and takes immediate action to resolve emergencies or system breakdowns.

 

Responsibilities:

• Supervise the performance of preventive maintenance of all equipment.

• Supervise and assist with the maintenance of site equipment and building structure.

• Document and institute corrective actions for any deficiencies found.

• Monitor subcontractors in their tasks and provide reports as appropriate.

• Operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all related mechanical, electrical, control systems, air handling units, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and expansion joints.

• Requisition of necessary material to complete required repairs.

• Oversee the routine and preventive maintenance duties including filter changes, belts, lubrication, control, and performance checks of building systems and equipment.

• Oversee inspections of mechanical, and electrical systems, trace electrical circuits, operate switchgear, and record inspections.

• Perform any additional duties on a “required” basis where such duties are within the scope of contractual obligations.

• Manages and schedules weekly safety toolbox meetings/training.

• Conducts performance evaluations of staff at required intervals; in conjunction with the Mechanical Trades Manager, manages disciplinary action per human resource guidelines; makes hiring and firing recommendations to the Mechanical Maintenance Trades Manager abreast of personnel issues.

• Complete documentation, including but not limited to, timesheets, expense reports, service reports, safety training, group meetings, and maintaining tools and vehicles.


Requirements



Education and Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years experience in the operation of central building equipment, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and/or electronic systems.  Experience & proven ability to repair building electrical, plumbing, & HVAC auxiliary systems.

• Valid driver's license.  

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.

• Basic mathematical abilities in all units of measure. Read blueprints and technical schematics as well as specification manuals.

• Experience & proven ability to Braze / Solder copper pie and thread black pipe.

• Basic carpentry skills.

• Strong knowledge of the operation of building auxiliary systems i.e. fire-life safety, and stand-by emergency generators.

• Familiarity of general building systems i.e. vertical lift equipment, and overhead doors.

• Ability to write, execute written and oral instructions, and perform arithmetic calculations.

• Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.

• Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects, and perform other physically demanding tasks Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.


Physical Requirements: 

In an 8-hour day, must be able to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand, and walk; to use hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motion; and to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to move objects above 100 pounds, and travel by company vehicle to work location or to other destinations as required.
