Co-Op / Intern R&D Engineer HVAC-R

Fulton Group N.A. is a multinational heating equipment manufacturer with market leading products. The company is located in Pulaski, NY which is a short commute from Syracuse, just 30min from the 481-81 interchange.


The Co-op program at Fulton R&D is a great opportunity for engineering students to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain experience in new product development from conceptual design to release to production. R&D at Fulton touches many aspects of engineering including vapor compression technology, electrical systems, heat transfer, combustion and mechanical design.


R&D Engineer- Co-op is responsible for assisting engineers in the development of new products. The Co-op engineers will need to work as an integral part of a team with the ultimate goal of designing, testing, and releasing new products to market.


The program duration can be between 3 to 9 months starting in May 2025. Tasks will be dependent on current projects at the time of the Co-op. 

Familiarity with vapor compression systems a plus. The position does not involve repetitive tasks, this is a position for a candidate that is looking for a position with a lot of learning potential.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Prepare detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD electrical
  • Fabrication of new test articles and fixtures
  • Laboratory testing of prototypes and research equipment
  • Design prototypes and test equipment
  • Improve designs from a mechanical and manufacturability perspective
  • Usage and operation of a wide variety of hand tools and instruments
  • Perform calculations and troubleshooting to work out potential modifications, design changes, or modifications to malfunctioning systems.
Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience):

  • Fulltime enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. Mechanical engineering program, with 2 years completed.
  • Experience with 3D modeling programs such as Autodesk Inventor
  • Ability to work fulltime hours during the co-op program
  • Strong communication, organizational and independent judgment skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to operate a computer at a desk. Walking and standing are required occasionally.
Salary Description
$20 - $23 / hour
